I recently had the opportunity to take an amazing trip of a lifetime. 2 days trekking through the wilderness of Yosemite and 2 days strolling the beautiful streets of San Francisco.
If you ever get the change to take a long weekend or even better a week long trip sans kids I highly recommend you do it just like this. My sister and I spent 2 whole days without a mirror to critique ourselves or pinch the skin that jiggles when we wave (news flash we all have it!). There was no comparing our insides to the picture perfect Instagram filtered outsides that we all put out. It was absorbing the beauty of nature and the strength of our bodies. We spent just enough time to quiet the mind and refresh the soul without getting TOO stinky and tired of oatmeal.
Back country camping and hiking is an experience that is hard for me to put into words, but I will try. Everything you need to survive you are carrying on your back, their is no option to say “nah, I think I’ve had enough” you can’t call a cab or take a bus or even call your husband to come pick you up. You have to keep going. Now, I know what you may be thinking “girl you were gone for 2 days, it’s not like you climbed everest”. Well… I would have to agree with you. It’s not even that it was that hard, it’s just the knowing that had me thinking- do not twist your ankle! All that being said I would totally do it again, but with better instant coffee!
It was my sister’s 30th birthday! I feel bad for all the birthdays following, this one is going to be hard to beat!
If only life’s path was as easy to follow as this.
This view was well worth the blisters
Sore and oh so ready for a shower, we jumped into the rental car and drove 4 hours to San Francisco. That may have been one of the best showers of my life and the bed was amazing!!
There is something so fun about exploring a new city with no plans and no agenda
We made a list of things we would like to do
See the Golden Gate Bridge I expected we would drive over it, which we did. But this was even better!
Sea Lions at Fisherman’s Wharf
A trip to see the Redwoods
I couldn’t have asked for more, huge thank you to my husband and our family who stepped in so I could step out!
